Zima
D, ED: Cristina Picchi, CI: Saulius Lukoševičius
RUS 2013, OwE, 11‘
A journey through northern Russia and Siberia, and through the thoughts and emotions of people who live here, constantly battling against nature, in one of the world’s most extreme climatic zones. How do they manage to survive in a place where human beings and nature are in such conflict? “Zima” describes a reality in which the borderline between life and death is so fluid that it sometimes seems barely to exist; a battle between civilisation and the extremes of nature, but at the same time embracing its timeless rules and rites.
