Avatar Niko Bellic from the video game “Grand Theft Auto” is artist Christoph Faulhaber’s alter ego. He leads us through New York and through Faulhaber’s projects. The security service “Mister Security” the artist created and documented, guards the American Embassy on behalf of the public. As a result he comes under observation, is suspected of being a terrorist and eventually loses his artist’s stipend in New York. Image and politics are intertwined, identity and reality are constructed in the images. We dive into the video adventure, with its accompanying music and visual effects, into the life of the artist, stylised as a hero and martyr: “Form is created through resistance.”

Christoph Faulhaber, born 1972, studied at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg. His work has provoked scandals, his performances have been terminated by massive police intervention and stipends have been retracted. Finally, targeted by the FBI and Homeland Security, he was filed on the US Terrorist Watchlist.
