“Nadezhda” means “hope”, and it is also the name of one of the largest Roma ghettos in Bulgaria. Twelve-year-old Tsveti dreams of one day being able to attend the music school outside town. Kidnappings are common in the Roma community. The parents of Misho and Zorka also long to leave the ghetto. We see the young couple in search of a new place to live. Their requirements are very modest: they are tired of being rejected on account of their post-code.

Born in 1986, Anna Ewert studied filmmaking at the Edinburgh College of Art. She is now a student of documentary film at the University of Television and Film Munich. Her shorts have been screened at film festivals around the world. She is also an alumna of the Berlinale Talent Campus.

Born in 1990 in Gera, Germany, Falk Müller has been making films since 2008. In 2011 he began his studies at the documentary department of the Munich University of Television and Film. He also gives TV courses for children and teenagers.
