Knife in the Wife (Noz w wozie)

D, CI: Vita Drygas, ED: Tomasz Ciesielski
POL 2014, OwE, 11‘, INT PR

Cleaning blades, driving posts, raising the tarpaulin, hanging up posters, making megaphone announcements – we see the members of the small family-run Circus Arizona preparing for their next performance. We watch the protagonists going about their everyday activities and observe their rituals: washing, doing the dishes, solving crossword puzzles. Their acrobatic exercises, the snake act and the knives thrown at the female members of the troupe seem at once both grotesque and cheerless. All the same, the children in the audience watch the afternoon show with shining eyes. The magic of illusion.

Vita Drygas graduated in French philology from the University of Warsaw
and is now studying Cinematography, Directing and Art Photography at
