An ice rink becomes a stage, the skaters are the protagonists. Before our eyes we see boisterous youth, agile old ladies, posing yobbos, children taking first playful steps, an ice princess, couples circling and flirting, people jumping, spiralling, falling, pausing, laughing and getting up again. We don’t hear what they say, just the swoosh, chop and squeak of their blades, sometimes synchronised, sometimes not, and sometimes with the sound of wind instruments added. An audiovisual composition of countless crossings.

Antoine Danis, born in 1979, was working as a school teacher when he decided to organize a creative documentary film workshop. The experience brought him slowly into film editing. “Crossings” is his first short film as a director.
