Lady, Madame Paulissen. Glances are exchanged, scissors and comb go to work. Satisfied humility, helpless rebellion – faces and bodies speak, reveal emotions and memories. These lovingly searching shots of the inhabitants of a Belgian home for Alzheimer patients act as a link to the speechless world in which they are apparently trapped. A film of faces. Their faces.

Alexia Bonta was born in Brussels in 1982. She graduated from the Institute of Media Arts (IAD) and has a Master in Anthropology. Her desire to become a filmmaker began when she shot her first images with her grandfather. Later, she went to a geriatrics department in Brussels to make her end-of-studies film “parlez-moi d’amour” (let’s talk about love). She filmed Marie and Marie-Claire who, on their deathbeds, gave her advice about marital life. Among others, the film was selected in DOCLISBOA 2008.
